Emmanuelle Beart developed her dream of becoming an actress at age 13. In 1976, she made her feature acting debut in the movie “Demain les Momes.” Her family was supportive, even moving to Canada for four years (1980-1983), so that the 15-year-old Emmanuelle Beart could learn English first-hand. When they went back to France in 1983, she won her first role in the TV movie “Raison Perdu.” The following year, Emmanuelle Beart landed a lead role in the feature film “L’amour en douce.”

In 1986, Emmanuelle Beart made her theater debut in the production of “La Repetition.” That same year, she made an impact in the US audience with her portrayal of Manon Cadoret, the surviving daughter of Gerard Depardieu, in the 1986 movie “Manon des sources.” For her work on the film, Emmanuelle Beart received a Cesar Award for ‘Best Supporting Actress.’

In 1987, Emmanuelle Beart beat out 5,000 candidates to play the lead role in the movie “Date with an Angel,” which became her first Hollywood picture. However, on the other part of the globe, Emmanuelle was already a star on the rise, appearing in critically acclaimed French films. Some notable French films of Emmanuelle Beart include “A Strange Passion” (Un amour interdit), “Love on the Quiet” (L'amour en douce), “Children of Chaos” (Les enfants du désordre), “The Beautiful Troublemaker” (La belle noiseuse), “A Heart in Winter” (Un coeur en hiver) and “Nelly and Mr. Arnaud” (Nelly & Monsieur Arnaud) – all of which earned her César Award nominations for Best Actress.

In 1995, Emmanuelle Beart became the spokesperson for Christian Dior and ranked #32 in Empire Magazine’s list of “100 Sexiest Stars in film History.” The following year, she appeared opposite Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible” as CIA agent Claire Phelps. By 1997, Emmanuelle Beart has been listed as #19 in the Femme Fatales Magazine list of “Sci-Fi's Sexy 50.”

Since the late 90s, Emmanuelle Beart has appeared in numerous French films, including the 1999 “Marcel Proust’s Time Regained,” the 1999 comedy “La Buche” (Season’s Beatings), the 2000 romance flick “Les Destinees Sentimentales” (Sentimental Destinies), the 2002 musical comedy “8 Femmes” (8 Women), the 2003 mystery film “Histoire de Marie et Julien” (The Story of Marie and Julien), the 2004 movie “Nathalie” where she starred as a prostitute and the World War II drama “Strayed.”

Emmanuelle Beart is an ambassador for UNICEF and United Nations Children's Fun since the mid-90s.
